I will connect with you with empathy and acceptance, offer validation, and compassionately challenge you toward growth.

“And what do I risk to tell you this, which is all I know?

Love yourself. Then forget about it. Then, love the world.”

Mary Oliver, To Begin With the Sweet Grass

One of the most influential teachers in my life was my grandmother. I used to describe her ability to make me believe in myself, feel validated, and yet challenged to change as her superpower. Whenever I shared my struggles with her, she listened attentively, expressed empathy for everyone involved, offered a bit of advice, and assured me that everything would be okay. I always left her believing it would be ok and in my capacity to overcome the challenges I faced. This felt like magic to me. I've learned since then that this "magic" is the power of genuine human connection built on positive regard and empathy – the power of being seen.

After my grandmother passed away twelve years ago, I felt called to use this “superpower” to support individuals in growing and healing. I trained to become a registered German naturopath and a yoga and meditation teacher. For the past nine years, I've supported adults with psychosomatic and mental health challenges, focusing on mindfulness and somatic practices.

Six years ago, I moved to Canada and am very grateful to be a guest on the traditional and unceded land of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation).  While completing my Master's in Counselling and Psychology, I worked as an Education Assistant for the school district. Supporting children and teenagers with special needs in navigating their challenges and their everyday lives at school cultivated my passion for working with youth. I am thankful that I was able to offer counselling support to adults and youth during my counselling practicum at Pearlspace in Squamish. I worked for the PEACE program, which focuses on supporting youth who have experienced or witnessed physical and emotional violence. Working with youth is inspiring, and it has taught me that my undivided presence, mixed with playfulness and curiosity, can be as effective as any counselling activity.

Through my experience supporting individuals of all ages, I have learnt that humans are incredibly resilient and that a safe connection can initiate small internal shifts that have a great rippling effect on their well-being and relationships. Each individual I have worked with over the past years has taught me something new about themselves, life and the workings of human psychology - I am very grateful for each of those teachers.

Over the years, I have formed the belief that our true “superpower” is our relationship with ourselves and how it impacts all of our relationships. In my counselling space, I am committed to creating a trusting therapeutic relationship with you that can act as a model for and an experience of secure attachment. I strive to support you in nourishing your relationship with yourself as a foundation for a secure attachment to the world. This, I think, is what Mary meant when she wrote, “Love yourself. Then forget about it. Then, love the world”.
